and the “Next Normal”

2020 has been unprecedented in so many ways. Healthcare philanthropy is no exception. Bill Littlejohn, Senior VP and CEO of the Foundations of Sharp HealthCare in San Diego, will share insights and perspectives Sharp’s philanthropy program, including the response to COVID-19; a virtual philanthropy program; multi-platform engagement, solicitation and stewardship; outcomes and lessons learned; and navigating an uncertain future with confidence. The presentation will also include perspectives on the characteristics of high-performing philanthropy professionals, especially important in elevating philanthropy in the “Next Normal.”

The Foundations of Sharp HealthCare

Bill Littlejohn is one of the nation’s leading health care philanthropy professionals. Bill joined Sharp HealthCare in 2002 and has more than three decades of health care philanthropy experience. He oversees the entire philanthropic program for Sharp HealthCare, and under his leadership, Sharp HealthCare has generated $350 million in philanthropy, including more than $121 million in the last five years. Bill is a 1980 graduate of the University of Virginia with a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics. He is a past Chair of the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP); received the 2017 Si Seymour Award, AHP’s highest recognition for professional development; received the 2015 Outstanding Leadership Award from the Southern California Association for Healthcare Development (SCAHD); is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) and was named the 2018 AFP San Diego Outstanding Development Professional; and served as chair of 2014 AFP National Philanthropy Day in San Diego. Bill also served as Chair of the Board of Santa Fe Christian Schools in Solana Beach, California; served as Chair of the Board of the St. Paul’s Retirement Home Foundation in San Diego; and is a member of the Board of Directors of St. Paul’s Senior Services and Christian Youth Theater. He has spoken and written extensively on all aspects of fundraising.
