Reporting to the President of the Methodist Hospital Foundation, the Director of Planned Giving will work closely with the current Director of Planned Giving to build upon the existing Planned Giving Program which seeks estate gifts for priority funding needs from grateful patients and community residents.
This additional Director will be integral to achievement of the Foundation’s annual revenue goals and is expected to be an aggressive cultivator and solicitor of both outright and planned major gifts.
The Director will use proven methods to market and promote the value of making planned and outright major gifts.
The successful candidate will likely be a seasoned development professional with hands-on experience and demonstrated success in the personal solicitation of major and planned gifts, but candidates with a background as an attorney, CPA, or financial advisor would also be considered.
Sound knowledge of planned giving instruments including bequests, charitable trusts, gift annuities, pooled income funds, life insurance, and gifts of real estate or personal property is required.
Healthcare experience or familiarity with large medical or educational institutions is preferred, as is competence with sophisticated software technology, databases, and financial reports and analysis.
Working knowledge of California and federal regulations and tax laws as they related to planned gifts is required, as is knowledge of laws governing nonprofit organizations.
A Bachelor’s degree is required and a graduate degree is preferred.
